Take time today to really listen to your loved ones. Look into their eyes when they are talking. Really listen to what they are saying. You may be surprised. It may not be what you expect but it will make your life and your relationship much richer.

Learning from my child
As a homeschooling mother I enjoy the daily opportunities I have to teach my children. However, there are many times that my children also teach me. As part of my resolution to savor life I am trying to see those moments instead of passing them by.
One such moment happened with my second daughter. Her daily job is to set the table before meals. I am always explaining how we want the table to be pretty and special for the rest of the family as they sit down to the meal. She took it to heart and gathered as many of her treasures as she could find and left one beside each of our plates. She decided that wasn't enough so she took the time and made everyone a card as well. Needless to say each one of us left that meal feeling special. She did not put off doing something good for her family for another day, she just did it. So many times I have to plan out and see where I can fit something special in. I need to follow her example and just do it... today.
"Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein." Luke 18: 17

Snow, snow, snow
We live in the southern part of the United States and snow is not something that we get too often. We did get snow for Christmas and now another snow this week. We got at least 6 inches. That is lot for us and we are very thankful that we did not lose our electricity. We home school and therefore do not get out of school for snow days but we did have to take time to enjoy the day.
Savoring the moments of life
I am by nature a list maker and for many years I have made extensive New Year's resolutions only to see them fall by the wayside by March. I have only one for this year. I want to slow down. I want to savor every moment that I experience, from the soft warmth of our baby, to the view of the sunset, to even the taste of food. Sometimes I find that I am just running trying to get to the next thing. I am startled when I view photographs of my children and realize that they are getting much older in spite of whether I am ready for them to be older or not. So today I will take time to look at the clouds, to laugh with our children, to listen to the wind. There is only one chance at this life and I want to view each and every gift God has given me.
